Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about ShipRateAPI — setup, billing, integrations, and more.
ShipRateAPI is a live shipping rate engine that connects your ecommerce store to multiple carriers in real time. When a customer reaches checkout, ShipRateAPI queries your configured carriers and returns live rates based on the destination, package weight, and any routing rules you have set up.
ShipRateAPI ships first-party plugins for Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce, Shopify, and BigCommerce. Any other platform can integrate via the REST API — all you need is the ability to make a server-side HTTP request at checkout.
Supported carriers depend on your region and plan. Common integrations include major national parcel carriers, express couriers, and LTL freight providers. The full carrier list is available in the admin portal once your account is active.
Your API key is available in the ShipRateAPI admin portal under Settings → API Keys. You can generate multiple keys for different stores or environments. Treat your API key like a password — never expose it in client-side code.
Each call to the ShipRateAPI API that retrieves carrier rates counts as one request. Cached responses served within the cache window do not count. If you approach your monthly limit we will notify you at 80% and 100% — requests beyond the limit are rate-limited rather than dropped, so your customers are not affected.
Yes. All paid plans include a 30-day free trial. No credit card is required to start. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from the billing section of the admin portal.
You can reach the ShipRateAPI team via the Contact page or by emailing support directly. Enterprise plan customers have access to a dedicated support channel with guaranteed response times.
